"Becoming Good Friends Who Never Offend" is the 15th episode of the "Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki" Anime adaptation.
Jeanne's negotiations continue. These negotiations are no longer in the hands of Julius, but wholly a matter for the Gran Chaos Empire and the Kingdom of Elfrieden. Further, Jeanne sees a new future and a new world in Souma.
Summary[]
After a meal, the negotiation resumes. But before continuing, as thanks for the food, Jeanne decides to share a bit of information and states that monster meat is good. Souma is surprised, but Jeanne explains she means the monsters that are not human-like. She tells a story of when she was young and her father was the emperor. The monsters attack looked like wild animals, but the demons attack was far more organized and had human-like behaviour. According to old stories, those demons got intelligent from eating human brains, but the theory is full of holes. Jeanne shares she ate a giant snake with wings, which tasted like a normal snake. Souma is surprised that they still tried eating the monster, but Jeanne explains they found remains of cooked monsters. Believing that the demons ate the monster, they managed to capture the same species and tried to see if its edible.
Hearing that Souma realizes that demons don't consider monsters as equal and wonders if the demons and monsters are like people and animals. That surprises everyone. Souma asks Liscia to not record what he is about to say. He explains he comes from a world where beastmen and monsters doesn't exist and he can't differentiate between animals and monsters. He asks Jeanne if she can differentiate a mythic fox, mystic wolf and kobold and she points out that kobolds have dog-like faces. Souma then points out that some beastmen also have animal-like faces. Liscia points out that kobolds have fur, but Souma asks if she can differentiate a demon with no fur or short fur. Hearing all that, causes everyone to rethink what they know, with Jeanne stating that she was differentiating based on her senses. Liscia also can't think of anything that sets them apart and Hakuya wonders how no one noticed that before. Jeanne is glad there are no bureaucrats or records, otherwise she would had to kill them. Hakuya points out that if the word spreads out that beastmen and demons are no different, human supremacists or other races, could start attacks against the beastmen and Elfrieden.
They proceed with the negotiation. The empire's position is that the territory must be returned, however Souma states he can't just return it as Amidonia had attacked them first. Jeanne states that the empire will likely make Amidonia pay commensurate reparations. as the other possibility is the Empire engaging in a war with Elfrieden, Souma agrees to return Van if Amidonia pays reparations and request the payment to be in imperial coinage. Jeanne asks Souma why haven't he signed the declaration. Souma doesn't wish to tell her yet, but doesn't want to lie either. Souma asks Jeanne to trust them and that they are not enemy of the Empire, and would like to sign a secret alliance. Hakuya states that if the nearby countries hear about the alliance, they will be more wary of Elfrieden and thus they want it to be a secret. Souma also points out that the Empire is sending another detachment to reinforce the Union of Eastern Nations and wishes Elfrieden to take on that role. If the demons push south, they will either meet the Empire or Elfrieden. As the empire is the head of the alliance, they will be able to request reinforcements from the Union of Eastern Nations, which will be Elfrieden. Jeanne accepts and Souma gives them a simple receiver. She then realize they can easily communicate with it. Amazed by his inoperativeness, Jeanne requests that Souma to come to the empire and marry her sister and become the emperor. Jeanne thinks Souma is thinking ahead of its time and wants to see the world that her sister and Souma would create. Liscia disagrees stating Souma is someone she needs, but corrects herself saying its someone the kingdom needs. Souma also denies the proposal. Returning to the alliance discussion, Jeanne states this is something she can't decide on her own and wishes they send each other a number of diplomatic officers. Souma agrees and suggest they have the title of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and build "embassies" in both capitals where they will be stationed.
As its getting late, they decide to call it a day and continue tomorrow. Jeanne decides to give another information to Souma. While they don't know the demon language, they often hear them repeat the same word "Divalroi", believing to be the name of the Demon Lord. Hearing the name of the Demon Lord Divalroi, Souma starts repeating it and feels he had heard it before, but can't remember from where.
