Battleship Albert

The Battleship Albert was the only battleship in the Forbidden Army of the Elfrieden Kingdom and was named after King Albert Elfrieden.

Design

The Albert was an all steel warship with twin dual cannons fore and aft and several secondary batteries. Like all warships of the time, it had no internal combustion engine to propel it through the water but was towed by two large Sea Dragons, like a giant carriage. The armaments were not permanently fixed and could be removed, turning the vessel into a large cargo ship.

During the One Week War, the battleship was modified with wheels on its sides and towed on land, using three Rhinosaurus. As a result, the ship was turned into a makeshift railway gun to assault the castle at Red Dragon City. To protect against wyvern attack, it was also equipped with anti-wyvern ballistae. It was manned not by people, but by several armored dolls controlled by Kazuya Souma's Living Poltergeist. However, these modifications rendered the Albert unable to be turned back into a seagoing vessel.

History

The Albert was still under construction when Albert Elfrieden abdicated his throne and ceded it to Kazuya Souma. During the time of his reforms, the armaments were removed and the ship became a cargo hauler, in order to ferry food and materials during the recession. It would only be used once in times of conflict.

At the time of the One Week War, the Albert was converted into a makeshift railway gun and pulled toward Red Dragon City to assault Castor Vargas' castle. Carla Vargas would lead her wyvern knights into battle against it, but they were caught unawares by the anti-wyvern ballistae that were installed. She would then assault the land battleship from low altitude and eventually cause it to be destroyed, but the ship had already served its purpose as a diversion and both Castor and Carla would end up as POWs.
