Gatsby Colbert (ギャツビー・コルベール, Gyatsubī Korubēru) is a character of Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki series. He was the Finance Minister of Amidonia and is currently the Finance Minister of Friedonia.
Appearance[]
Colbert is shown in the manga as a timid, thin man with short hair.
Personality[]
Colbert is seen as shy and easily intimidated. He does have a good deal of common sense, though he seems lacking in confidence. However, he is willing to speak his mind when its for the good of his people, even against people like Gaius and Georg, who even warriors fear. Georg even praised him as promising young man after they first met. He is seen by Roroa Amidonia as a trusted subordinate.
Biography[]
Gatsby Colbert was first shown during a counsel, just before the beginning of the One Week War, and was clearly against the plan to invade the Elfrieden Kingdom. He was certain that Amidonia did not have the resources nor the finances to support the invasion, and the consequences of losing the war would be disastrous to the country's already failing economy.
Gaius Amidonia saw the Finance Minister's demeanor as cowardly and dismissed him from his position, as well as place him under house arrest, despite Colbert pointing out that the invasion would be in direct violation of the First Clause of the Humanity Declaration Treaty. After being fired, Colbert would join with Roroa and go into hiding. After the One Week War, Gatsby would make a contribution along with Herman Neumann, in stopping the invasion of the Republic of Turgis.
After the annexation of Amidonia and the formation of Friedonia, Colbert would later be appointed as the Minister of Finance of the new nation by Kazuya Souma.

Colbert has great skill at economic management, as he specializes in eliminating wasteful spending and securing funds. His skill at economics are highly regarded by Julius, who wanted Colbert to serve under him when he became Crown Prince, Roroa; a talented economist herself and Souma, who immediately appointed him as the Financial Minster of Elfrieden and Amidonia after annexing the latter.
