Genia Maxwell (ジーニャ・マクスウェル, Jīnya Makusuweru), later renamed as Genia M. Arcs (ジーニャ・M・アークス, Jīnya M. Ākusu), is a character of Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki series.

Appearance[]

Genia is a woman in her early twenties who is often described as having a disheveled and messy appearance with regular features and semi-long hair.

Being a self-proclaimed over-scientist, she is seen mostly in a white lab coat that is way too big for her with the sleeves going past her hands and a little pair of glasses perched on her nose.

Personality[]

Genia is reclusive, but is quite personable as she is capable of maintaining normal conversations, even when others dismiss her ideas as crazy. This is most noticeable in her interactions with Souma E. Friedonia, Ludwin Arcs and her newfound researcher colleagues.

Despite being of the noble house Maxwell, Genia does not care about maintaining her class standing as she rather prefers to expend her energy towards advancements in the fields of technology, magic and dungeonology. She has a tendency to work on an idea to the exclusion of all else. Once complete, she will then move on to the next idea.

Biography[]

Genia is the last living member of the noble house of Maxwell in Elfrieden. It is not directly stated what exactly happened to her family, but the reputation of the Maxwell house being full of crazy researchers and experimenters suggests that many probably met unfortunate early accidents. The Maxwell house has had strong relations with the Arcs house, leaving the management of their lands to the Arcs house so as to focus on research. As such, the Maxwell lands were, over time, incorporated into the Arcs domain, leaving them in the possession of a cleared dungeon.

This ex-dungeon was at some point renovated, removing floors and walls to create a singular large space underground. This space is large enough that a individual log cabin house sits in a corner, the official Maxwell home, with plenty of space for Genia's projects to be splayed around, including Mechadra and the Little Susumu.

Due to the close nature of the Maxwell and Arcs houses, Ludwin Arcs and Genia were childhood friends with him often cautioning her in her obsessions as well as frequently checking up and supporting her. During her time in the Forbidden Army, she continued to conduct research. In one such project, she developed an arrowhead containing seeds, the intent of which to use to plant trees to spring up after a battle. However, the enchanted light magic on the arrows caused accelerated growth to the seeds, leading the test trial to sprout trees throughout the castle's courtyard. As a result, Genia was dismissed from the Forbidden Army. It is revealed that after Genia's dismissal from the Forbidden Army, Ludwin used a large portion of his own earnings to continue to support her.

After Souma E. Friedonia took the throne and began his search for talented individuals, Ludwin expressed interest in introducing Genia to him. However, with the early policies and reforms that Souma put forth as well as events such as the One Week War, this introduction was delayed. Genia was actually the individual responsible for a dragon skeleton that was uncovered during one such project being stolen, becoming the core of Mechadra. After their first meeting, Souma realizes the continued potential that Genia holds as a researcher and quickly seeks to maintain her ties to the kingdom. With Liscia Elfrieden's assistance, they somewhat impose that Ludwin and Genia get married, to which both agree, with hints of both happiness and embarrassment at. Genia factually states at that time that she believed it would happen eventually. The two were married on the same day as Kazuya's coronation and wedding in the joint ceremonies across Parnam.

Genia has since been involved in a variety of projects and research with the joint international Drill project being one of the most prominent. This project was done in conjunction with Merula Merlin, Trill Euphoria and Taru Ozumi. The four have become friends as a result of their work together, though at times Trill's obsession with Genia is off-putting to her since it interrupts time with Ludwin.

Powers & Abilities[]

Magic[]

Earth Element: Genia has magic ability with the Earth Element, enabling her to create and move golems.

Overscientist[]

Although the title of 'Overscientist' is self-proclaimed, Genia exhibits a great capacity to understand the advanced technologies found in dungeons as well as plans that Kazuya Souma presents to her. She also occasionally displays advanced knowledge in fields such as biology, chemistry and physics.
