Halbert Magna (ハルバート・マグナ, Harubāto Maguna) is a recurring character of Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki series. He is a former member of Georg Carmine's Army and is now part of the National Defense Force. He is the son of Glaive Magna and is the childhood friend of Kaede Foxia.
Appearance[]
He is a tall man of over 190 centimeters around the age of nineteen. He is a solid build man with broad-shoulders and distinctive red hair.
Personality[]
Orginally, Halbert was hot-headed and naive as he was first seen arguing with Kaede over the politics of the newly-appointed king Kazuya Souma. However, after his transfer to the Forbidden Army, he later begins to respect the hero-turned-king for his methods, innovations, and especially the new foods that were introduced.
Biography[]
Halbert was first seen arguing with his childhood friend Kaede at Juna Doma's cafe. He began insulting the new king Souma and berated him for dismissing the corrupt nobles. He even bragged of his intent to join Georg Carmine's rebellion. Unknown to him, Kazuya, Liscia Elfrieden and Aisha Udgard were there in disguise and heard the entire argument.
After revealing his identity, Kazuya then pointed out that Halbert's words could be interpreted as treason. He also pointed out to Halbert of the grave consequences to his family and Kaede, should he go through with his intent to join the rebellion. Some time later, Halbert's father was informed by Kaede of the incident, which ended in Halbert being 'disciplined' for his actions.
The next day, Glaive Magna and his son had an audience with Kazuya as Glaive begged to not have his son arrested and executed for treason. Kazuya instead decided to transfer Halbert to the Forbidden Army and be placed under the command of Kaede. He took part in road construction alongside the Forbidden army where he was unhappy with the work but found better and newer food given to them as experimental dishes of Souma enough to avoid considering returning to the army. During the work the Forbidden army alongside Hal and Kaede were deployed for a rescue operation in the God-Protected Forest after a landslide where he ended up saving Velza.
During the One Week War Hal and Kaede alongside the rest of the forbidden army was sent Randel where they defended the fortress built in one night against Zemish mercenaries and soldiers of rebelling nobles. Hal used his throwing spears wreathed in fire magic to attack enemies at range and managed to hold out until Souma came with the air force and took Randel. After that he alongside the combined Elfrieden military marched into Amidonia and surrounded Van. When the weakened Amidonian military came to relieve the siege Hal fought on the left wing of the Elfrieden army to encircle the Amidonian army. Leading a platoon he fought with two halberds sending enemies around him flying. Hal managed to reach the enemy general and killed him with his halberds entirely seperating his upper torso from the body and beheaded his horse resulting in the demoralised Amidonian soldiers fleeing and Hal gaining the title of "Hal the Red Ogre".
He would later propose to his childhood friend.
During a trip to the Star Dragon Mountain Range, Halbert would unintentionally form a contract with the dragon Ruby, thereby gaining a second wife.

Physical Abilities[]
Hal is a skilled fighter that can cut through enemy lines and could even hold his own again superior openents like Aisha and Fuuga.
Magical Abilities[]
Fire Element: Hal is a user of "Fire Element" Magic and wreath his weapons in fire and he preffers to use fire wreathed throwing spears that explode to take out entire groups of enemies.
Equipment[]
Twin Snake Spear: Two enchanted spears connected by a thin chain crafted in Republic of Turgis. Unlike the normal throwing spears they can be thrown with fire magic without being destroyed and the spear that was thrown can be recovered using the chain. However as the length of the chain increases it becomes more difficult to use thus this type of weapons are extremely rare even in Turgis.
