Ludwin Arcs (ルドウィン・アークス, Rudowin Ākusu) is a character of Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki series.
Appearance[]
He is tall, handsome man of around thirty with a beautiful face and long, straight blonde hair. He has a sturdy body wearing the fluted armor for the Royal Guard.
Personality[]
Ludwin is a intelligent and charismatic nobleman. As a distinguished knight, he is the leader the Royal Guard when Kazuya first meets him. Though he is of the nobility of Elfrieden, he lives a simplistic lifestyle so that he could financially care for his childhood friend. But mostly because he likes it.
Biography[]
Ludwin Arcs is the last member of the Arcs House, his parents having died some time ago. The Arcs House is the rulers of the Arcs fiefdom, which sits between Parnam and Venetinova, and also serves as the patrons of the Maxwell House. Due to the close relation of their families, Ludwin and Genia Maxwell grew up as siblings, considering each other to be the only family they have left.
Ludwin, when he is first met by Kazuya, is the leader of the Royal Guard. In a crisis, he also was considered to be the leader of the Forbidden Army. After Kazuya was given the throne, Ludwin quickly came to his side in support of the reforms being made. Ludwin would be the person that would give Aisha a final test to determine her role after she had proved herself at the Gathering of Personnel, deciding that she would best serve as a bodyguard, a role which she also desired.
Ludwin would continue to serve under Kazuya through the One Week War, where he acted as the acting commanding officer against both Georg Carmine's rebellion and the subsequent Amidonian forces. Kazuya would see his skill from these battles and would go on to appoint Ludwin as second-in-command of the reorganized National Defense Force (NDF) under Excel Walter. Excel would be against her own appointment as the head of the NDF, but Kazuya would inform her that this would be until Ludwin gained additional experience. Ludwin would eventually go on to serve as the acting commanding officer during the Friedonian expedition to aid the Union of Eastern Nations, where he would work alongside a former opponent, Julius Amidonia.
After witnessing Kazuya's Gathering, Ludwin would suggest that Kazuya meet with his excentric childhood friend, Genia Maxwell. Genia, being a self-proclaimed overscientist, spent much of her time conducting experimental magic research and technology development. Ludwin would first introduce Kazuya and Liscia to Genia after profusely apologizing when Genia had somewhat 'stolen' and dragon skeleton unearthed by the Forbidden Army during a civil engineering project. This first meeting would result in Kazuya recognizing Genia's value to Friedonia.
Because of Genia's preceived value to Friedonia, Kazuya and Liscia pushed for Ludwin and Genia to marry. Though this was embarrassing to both Ludwin and Genia, the two agreed as they did possess feelings for each other. Genia would state that she believed that eventually Ludwin would marry her anyways. The two would marry on the same day as Kazuya's coronation and wedding as part of the joint celebration across Parnam. It is not stated if their marriage either changed or dissolved the previous contract between the Arcs and Maxwell Houses in which the Arcs served as patrons for the Maxwells.
When he is not on active duty, Ludwin frequently observes Genia and her companions research and development alongside Souji Lester. The two men have also frequently found themselves as occasional test subjects in various experiments during these observations. Ludwin and Genia have reportedly had intimacy moments thwarted on numerous occasions by Trill Euphoria due to her obsession with Genia.

Ludwin has shown himself to be a capable military leader, scoring victories against Georg Carmine, Gaius Amidonia, and the demons. He, like Kazuya, relies on capable subordinates such as Kaede Foxia and Halbert Magna to carry out the specifics of operations he oversees. He is currently continuing to gain experience under Excel Walter. He is also a capable engineer.
Martial Combat[]
Ludwin is a skilled combatant, trained as a military knight, and is capable of competing against Aisha, at least when the two first met.
