19 year-old Souma Kazuya, a university student of humanities finds himself summoned in Parnam, capital of Kingdom of Elfrieden in continent of Landia, to avoid getting himself handed over to the Empire in place of funds, who is leading the war of humanity against demons, he helps the King in arranging funds, impressed with his insight and knowledge Albert Elfrieden, the King abdicates in favor of Souma and makes him the next king of Elfrieden much to dismay of Souma and rest of the nobles.
