Summary[]
The Gran Chaos Empire's army arrives and it's clear that they outnumber the Elfrieden Kingdom's forces. Souma welcomes Jeanne and Julius into the throne room. Jeanne notes Souma's lack of guards but Souma's fine with just Aisha. Julius demands the return of Van but Souma states that it was the Principality of Amidonia that invaded first. He wants Julius to apologize for invading Elfrieden. Julius trembles as he apologizes for not being able to stop his father. Julius quickly then strikes back by saying that they signed the mankind declaration while Elfrieden did not. She asks for the land back but Souma replies according to his plan.
Souma explains that he isn't challenging the alliance but doesn't like the way the principality is doing things. Julius is adamant about freeing the people from Elfrieden's occupation and Souma asks if Julius really thought of the people. He asked about the streets on the way here and asked who was really oppressing the people of Van. Julius is about to attack when Jeanne holds him back and warns Souma not to provoke Julius. Julius stands on the fact that they're only reclaiming their land but Souma says that the people who wanted that weren't there anymore.
Hakuya brings in two lists each depicting a list of nobles that the principality conspired with to go against Elfrieden. He mentions that while Amidonia is pretending to follow the declaration, they wanted to take revenge on Elfrieden. They kept using revenge as an excuse to hide the people's discontent towards the kingdom. Julius lashes out again and Jeanne warns Souma not to provoke Julius again. Souma apologizes while also expressing his anger towards Amidonia. Jeanne asks Julius to leave as he's not negotiating with Amidonia but rather the empire. Jeanne agrees and mentions that if Julius has a problem, the empire can leave. Julius then agrees and leaves the room. Souma and Jeanne sympathize with each other as the negotiations begin.
