Ooyamizuchi is a named monster in the Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki series. It is a sea-based lifeform that lives around the Nine Headed Dragon Archipelago.
Appearance[]
Ooyamizuchi is an amalgamation of creature features together in one. Its head and neck are depicted as similar to a dragon or sea dragon. A large, bivalve shell like a clam covers its back. Eight tentacles featuring crustacean plating end in pincers. Its overall size is greater than any other creature or monster, and at a distance can be confused for a small island.
Information[]
Ooyamizuchi is the first monster to be classified under the term Kaiju. Kazuya proposed this label for it in homage to such creatures depicted in Earth movies and stories. While Kazuya admits that ryuus and dragons would classify as kaijus due to their own sizes, their sentience seems to function as a cutoff point on the matter. Kazuya notes that only the Mother Dragon in her dragon form is larger than Ooyamizuchi.
Though the exact origin of Ooyamizuchi is unknown, it is the working hypothesis that the creature is a monster that escaped from a submerged dungeon. Tomoe, upon listening to it with her ability, stated that it likened ‘enemies’ to ‘food,’ which is a likely scenario in a dungeon setting.
Ichiha was the first to compile a rough sketch of what Ooyamizuchi looked like after he and others scrutinized survivor accounts of sightings. As such, the plans to eliminate Ooyamizuchi were refined.
Traits & Abilities[]
Ooyamizuchi has displayed the following traits & abilities:
- Amphibious: It is capable of functioning on land and in the sea, though its land based movement is limited.
- Armored: The bivalve shell of its back provides a strong defense and is suspected of sheltering its vital organs. Additionally, the tentacles are noted to have crustacean-like plating on them.
- Moisturizing Mist: The bivalve shell on its back is capable of outputting a mist over an area much larger than itself. It is theorized that this is used primarily to prevent itself from drying out while on land, though the fog conditions it creates offers some camouflage.
- Pincers: The pincers at the end of its tentacles are nimble enough to grasp something as small as a human, yet strong enough to bisect the same human. It is unclear if all of its tentacles end in pincers.
- Tentacles: The eight tentacles are used to wiggle it along the land. When a tentacle smacks the ground, it causes a minor, localized earthquake. Though armored, they are soft on the underside and at the base. They are capable of being raised over its body and used to smack down wyvern cavalry.
- Water Breath: It is capable of emitting a pressurized stream of water from its mouth. It is suspected that it somehow absorbs the water it uses for this attack, as it did not drink any before launching it. This attack seems to have a slow ‘recharge.’
- Wind Breath: It is capable of emitting a directed wind attack from its mouth that is capable of at least stunning a wyvern. It is possible that this attack is a type of wind magic. This attack seems to have a slow ‘recharge’.
