The Ursula Mountains are a mountain range that was once part of the border between the Principality of Amidonia and the Elfrieden Kingdom.

Location[]

Friedonia and its surroundings

The Ursula Mountains were located on Amidonia's western border and comprised at least half of the border's length with Elfrieden. On Amidonia's side of the mountains is the fortress city of Nelva, while on Elfrieden's side was the fortress city of Altomura. The mountains also share a slight southern border with the Republic of Turgis.

One Week War[]

During the conflict known as the One Week War, the Amidonian Army of 30,000 decided to cross through the mountains and attack the city of Altomura. The reason why Gaius Amidonia did not lead his forces across the easier route through the Carmine Duchy, was due to the fact that Amidonia had offered aid to both the king and Georg Carmine. An army appearing in the Carmine Duchy would indicate that he was siding with Georg Carmine and he wanted the rebellion of the Dukes to last as long as possible.

The Amidonian forces would traverse through the mountains and through the Goldoa Valley. Incidentally, this pathway is also sung as part of the national anthem of Amidonia. Unfortunately for Gaius, his son Julius, and the 30,000 soldiers, they were stalled at Altomura and were forced to withdraw back through the Goldoa Valley in order to get back to the Amidonian capital of Van, which was currently being attacked by the Elfrieden Army. Through the muddy terrain left as a trap for their soldiers, they would suffer heavy losses from hit-and-run attacks by the Marine Corps led by Juna Doma.

After the defeat of the Amidonian Army at Van, the loss of the crown prince Gaius and the eventual exile of his successor Julius, the Ursula Mountains would again be crossed by another army as the Republic of Turgis launched an invasion during confusion. This incursion was stalled by the forces under the command of Herman Neumann at Nelva, which eventually led to Turgis' retreat after Amidonia was annexed by Elfrieden.
